On August 1, 2012, Professor Dr. Marcus Hasselhorn became director of the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF).
On the occasion of a small celebration, Hasselhorn expressed his gratitude to his predecessor, Professor Dr. Marc Rittberger, for his successful work. Hasselhorn promised to seek Rittberger’s cooperation in promoting the successful work of the Institute. Hasselhorn came to the DIPF in 2007 to chair the Research Center for Education and Human Development. Pursuant to the constitution of the DIPF, the directorate changes every four years. Rittberger, director of the Information Center for Education, will continue to act on behalf of the DIPF as deputy director. In the past, Eckhard Klieme, Lutz Eckensberger, Hermann Avenarius and Wolfgang Mitter (amongst others) have fulfilled the post of director at the DIPF.
